His own thirty-one-page declaration, sworn in support of a motion to compel David Najar’s financial records, newly pulled from the Los Angeles court file and hosted here in full.
Last week’s report laid out the skeleton of the case Peter Spiegel, Katie Williams, and Ideal Living filed against David Najar in Los Angeles: a 2023 complaint for civil extortion, an answer, and a settlement that dismissed the action without prejudice in June 2025. This is the same case, told from the plaintiff’s side.
In February 2025, four months before it settled, Peter Spiegel signed a sworn declaration in support of a motion to compel David Najar’s financial records. It runs thirty-one pages. It is now hosted here in full, exactly as it was filed.
In it, Spiegel gives his own account of the dispute and attaches, as exhibits, the messages he says he received and characterizes as extortionate demands, together with a police report. The JKP Map hosts the document as Spiegel filed it, exhibits included, and takes no position on the truth of any allegation traded between the two men.
Read the declaration and the shape of the fight is plain. This was not a quarrel about money. In Spiegel’s own telling, Najar was threatening to publicize a set of damaging claims about Spiegel and about Ideal Living, and the lawsuit was Spiegel’s answer to that threat. What the file records, in the founder’s own sworn words, is a suppression fight: a company owner using the courts against a man who said he would go public.
And notice what the declaration was filed to obtain. Not an injunction to stop the disclosures, and not damages proven at trial, but a court order forcing Najar to open his personal financial records. That is an aggressive discovery posture aimed squarely at a defendant’s assets. Four months later the case settled privately and was dismissed without prejudice. Nothing Spiegel swore, and nothing Najar might have answered, was ever weighed by a judge.
Why publish a party’s untested declaration at all? Because the record on this site is built from primary documents, and this is the fullest first-person account in the Najar file of a fight the founders chose to wage in court. Read it and weigh it yourself. That is the whole reason to host the file instead of merely describing it.
This update sits alongside The Record Does Not Need the Witnesses, which lays out the full Najar docket, and the evidence vault, where every hosted filing is indexed and linked to its source.
